To the editor,
We have followed Bernie Sanders during his Senate career. After reading Robert Reich’s book, Saving Capitalism: For the Many, Not the Few, there is no doubt in our minds that Bernie Sanders is by far the best choice for president.
It’s time to restore some balance into our government and our economy. For the last 30 or 40 years most of the income has gone to the top 1 percent of Americans, who have amassed huge wealth. Bernie is right—the economic system is rigged. The status quo will no longer work for most Americans.
Bernie is honest, consistent, and committed to working for all of the American people. Bernie has a strong track record in the Senate, working on people’s issues. He has the courage to take on the Wall Street banks, mega-corporations, the rich and powerful of the political establishment, and other special interests that control our government. His campaign funding comes from ordinary people, not from these wealthy special interests. Bernie wants our government to work for all Americans. He believes that we all do better when we all do better.
This is a critical election in our history. It’s about opening up the possibilities of what we can do. Bernie understands that much needs to be done to prevent our country from becoming a full-fledged oligarchy. He knows that the American people need to be engaged in order to restore our democracy and give all Americans a voice in their government.
Bernie Sanders is the best person in this presidential race, at this time in our history, to lead our nation. By caucusing for Bernie Sanders, you will be sending a message that all Americans count, even after the election season is over.
See you at the caucus,
David & Carol John, Jefferson
